Founders & Hosts Leigh & Mitch Drennan have proven that you can work with family (and that you never have to grow up)

Leigh Drennan and Mitchell Drennan founded the We Got The Chocolates podcast on the basis that they both loved sport but also liked to hang out with their mates and have a laugh. Turns out, it was a recipe for success. They expanded their empire across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, one Dad joke at a time, and even started creating their own merch. People tune into their podcast every week to hear them play games, tell jokes and talk about things that made them laugh each week – and luckily they found some time to hang with us this Friday.

Explain your job as if you’re talking to a 10-year-old.

We make videos and podcasts that (hopefully) make people laugh. Basically, we tell stories, make jokes and try to brighten up people’s day – especially during their boring morning commutes.

What was your biggest failure/mistake you’ve ever made and how did you turn it into a positive?

Starting a podcast with absolutely no plan. But, to be fair, that worked out because it let us explore whatever we found funny – whether it was sports, nicknames for mates or terrible puns. Turns out, people like a bit of chaos.

If you could have a superpower to help with work, what would it be and why?

The ability to edit videos in the same amount of time it takes to film them. It would cut down the bottleneck by a considerable margin.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

For me (Leigh), it’s snacking on peanuts before dinner. Dangerous territory when you tell yourself you’re just having a few.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Mitch has this unbelievable talent for nailing the supersonic speed part of Eminem’s Rap God. It’s ridiculous but somehow impressive. The rest of us just stand there in awe… and avoid doing any song after him.

Don’t miss an episode of their podcast and keep up with them across their channels: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. As for our guest next week? He’s someone who always knows how to hook the most unattainable of scrollers – his edits always raise the bar.

Got your attention? See you next week.
